Впервые в истории строительство судов было поставлено на конвейер. Если вначале от закладки киля до поставки готового корабля уходило 200 дней, то в 1944 - 20 дней (рекордный срок 17 дней), а сроки строительства от закладки киля до спуска на воду сокращались до четырех с половиной дней. За 212 дней 1945 было построено 247 судов этого типа.
